Still Lifes In Glass (Beth Lipman 2003)
$4.50
Through a method she refers to as "hot sculpting," Massachusetts artist Beth Lipman creates elaborate glass sculptures drawn from seventeenth-century Baroque still-life paintings. A master in the art of glass, Lipman crafts still-lifes that are both visually and conceptually fascinating, enmeshing painting and sculpture, past and present, and the decorative and idea-based arts. Her largest and most elaborate work to date, Bancketje (Banquet), is an amazing 20-foot-long glass tableau made especially for this solo exhibition at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.
